Although Spain is most commonly known as a major package tour destination, focusing upon beach holidays in the southern coastline, Spain is also an excellent choice of destination for a short break or city break holiday. The city of Barcelona has a second largest population of any city in Spain and makes a great choice of destination from which to explore the surrounding area. Barcelona is served by two major airports the Barcelona International Airport and Sabadell Airport, both of these airports are outside of the city proper, therefore it would be logical to arrange to have your hire car ready to pick up at the airport when you disembark from your plane, this will save you having to use public transport to get into the city centre.
All of the major international and European hire firms operate from within the airports including Hertz, Budget, Sixt and Europacar. There are whole host of great places to visit close by, for family fun a trip to Tibidabo may be in order; this modern new amusement park sits atop the tallest hill in the area, offering fun for all the family. For something a little more historical then visit to Girona is just the thing, this quaint mediaeval city sits at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains, many great example of Spanish mediaeval architecture to be found Girona. |
